Wake NZ exists to promote, develop and support the sport of wakeboarding in New Zealand and strive to be at the heart of Wakeboarding in New Zealand.

We do this by running a calendar of events, and providing a conduit for riders to connect with coaching and development opportunities. Additionally, we select the Nationals Wakeboarding Team to represent New Zealand at world series events.

Wake NZ is the official association for wake boarding in New Zealand. We are a not-for-profit Incorporated NZ Society run by a committee of volunteers.

We belong to the world organisation IWWF (International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation), allowing our member riders to follow their dream around the world. We abide by the rules and regulations of the IWWF, and as such, all members of Wake NZ must be financial members of NZWSA, which is the governing body for Water Skiing organisations in New Zealand (Tournament, Club, Barefoot, Ski Racing, Wakeboarding and Disabled).

On the water in NZ

There’s always some riding fun to be found in New Zealand, both in summer and winter. We’ve got some great wakeboarding locations, each with their own unique culture and vibe. Check out their various Facebook pages and posts… Windy Wellington Wakeboarders ,Wakeboard Waikato, South Island Wakeboarding– or just call into Mangakino and you’ll usually find a ride.

We’re about riding the water, supporting each other, encouraging growth in the sport through events, camps, competitions, family riding and just hanging out. If you’re into camaraderie and trying your skills in a competition event, there is opportunity to step up in the sport. Each membership year we select a Wake NZ Development Squad of riders, based on rider competency at events.  It’s a squad that holds rider promise across all age groups, and we see the riders as our future champions.
