The second event of the Wakeboarding New Zealand summer season is being held over two days this weekend, 27-28 January at the Backpaddock Lakes complex near Waipukurau.

Riders in the unique event must showcase their skill both on the lake, behind a Nautique wakeboarding boat, as well as on the wakeboard cable system.

All divisions in the summer series events are ability-based, which Wake NZ hopes will encourage more riders to take part. Riders of all ages and abilities can choose to ride in six divisions, from Rookie/Novice to Pro.

The event is free for spectators, and the Backpaddocks water sports park provides great viewing opportunities to get close to the wakeboarding action.

The summer calendar includes one more Round, at Lake Maraetai, Mangakino on 24-25 February 2018. The final Nationals event will take place at Horahora Domain on 6-7 April 2018.

Riders score points for their placing in each Round, with overall ‘King of Wake’ winners announced in each division, at the Nationals event in April.
