2020 Wake NZ Winter Jam

We missed out on some great summer riding months this year, so how about making up for it during August!?
Wake NZ announces our first ever Winter Jam event.
We have 5 cash prizes of $100 to give away to the hardy folk keen to get out and ride. All you have to do is film your ride during August, submit an entry into one of the categories below, and you’re in to win.
Entrants must be resident in New Zealand
There is no requirement to be a Wake NZ member. This is open to all NZ residents so fill up your boat and get filming!
Filming must occur in New Zealand during the competition period
Categories
- Men’s
- Women’s
- Groms (under 12, and tricks limited to 180s)
- Best Crash
- Most Creative Object Surfed

You must be riding in New Zealand to be eligible for a prize. You can enter one or more categories.
Judging Criteria
Judging for people’s choice will be on a ‘Most Likes’ basis – In the event of tie break, the final decision will be determined by Wake NZ committee
Competition period runs from 1 August to 14 September 2020
People’s choice judging on Facebook only – judging will be open from 15 to 30 September
Open Men
- Open to all male entrants
- Your digital entry must consist of a six trick line with no falls. This must be an unedited raw clip to qualify.
- Judging criteria is as per Wake NZ website – composition, execution, intensity
- Judged by Wake NZ Committee Judging panel
Open Women
- Open to all women entrants,
- Your digital entry must consist of a six trick line with no falls. This must be an unedited raw clip to qualify.
- Judging criteria is as per Wake NZ website – composition, execution, intensity
- Judged by Wake NZ Committee Judging panel
Groms
- Open to boys and girls aged 12 and under during the competition period
- Tricks limited to wake to wake 180s or less
- Your digital entry must consist of a six trick line with no falls. This must be an unedited raw clip to qualify.

- Judged by Wake NZ Committee Judging panel
Best Crash
- Show us your best crash! The one that made the boat go ‘ouch’
- This category is judged on People’s Choice
- You can enter Best Crash as many times as you want but it’s one crash per entry.
Most Creative Surf
- We want to see creative surfing. For example what is the weirdest thing you can surf or coolest thing you can do on a surfboard ie yoga or handstand.
- To qualify you must surf your object or in your ‘style’ for 10 seconds without the handle.
