David Stubbs won the 2016 Mens Open category of the Wake NZ Nationals. This qualifies David for the World Championships to be held in Spain in 2017. He has also been selected for the New Zealand team to ride at a major Asia-Oceania event being held at Lake Karapiro in February 2017.
David grew up in the Marlborough Sounds and on the banks of the Wairau River in New Zealand. He is an established coach at the world renowned TWD (The Wakeboard Camp) in Florida.
Despite his success, he has no immediate plans to extend his wakeboarding career. He is enjoying his job as an architectural designer in Blenheim, and will attempt to find a suitable mix of work and sport, but hasn’t ruled out another trip to the wakeboarding “Mecca” of Florida in the future.
He’s thrilled to have been able to bring the national title to the South Island, and is looking forward to defending it in 2017.
