WNZ held its first Wake vs Cable event at Backpaddock Lakes in Waipukurau on 1 and 2 February 2014.  This was a fantastic event – the Rowlands Family from Backpaddock and their team were fantastic hosts.

The first day started off with the Boat part of the competition which saw some great riding from all divisions. After the boat riding was completed the competitors were able to get some practice in for the cable for the next day.

That night we had a Fantastic Kiwi Dinner, Lamb on the Spit, and then everyone got down to a boogey on the dance floor under the huge marquee!

The next day was Cable, which was the first cable event to be held in the North Island, this was an awesome part of this competition, and it was great to see all competitors pushing their skills riding cable and trying new tricks for the first time, from the Groms right up to Open Mens.

The Cable finished with the BIG AIR which proved lots of fun for competitors and spectators.

WNZ would like to thank the Rowland Family for their fantastic hospitality and support, which made this event something very special. We look forward to holding this event next year at Backpaddock Lakes.

If you haven’t been to Backpaddock Lakes this is definitely worth a visit!
